Press Release by ‘Pembrokeshire Tourism’ January 2011:-

'AWARDS ARE ACCOLADES FOR COUNTY'S TOURISM STARS'

Happy holiday experiences, stylish self-catering and excellent eating-out are all lining up for accolades in the prestigious Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards 2011.

Now in their third year, the awards aim to recognise, reward and inspire the country's tourism-related businesses.

The short-listed finalists were announced at a sponsors' reception at the Wolfcastle Country Hotel on Thursday, alongside a wine-tasting served up by Celtic Wines.

The winners will be revealed at a black tie awards party at the Kiln Park entertainment centre, Tenby on March 11th, where prize packages on offer include trophies sponsored by the Western Telegraph.

"For the first time this year, we are awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in each of our 12 categories," said Pembrokeshire Tourism's chief executive, Alison Belton. "Our previous winners have told us how valuable their award status has been in promoting their businesses, and feel that all our finalists deserve this recognition.  We are hugely grateful to our event sponsors without whom the recognition which tourism deserves, simply couldn't happen!"

And Pembrokeshire Tourism chairman Huw Pendleton said that he was 'delighted and impressed' with the quality and quantity of nominations for the awards, particularly in the category for best new business or owner and best marketing campaign.

He added: "A glance at the list of our superb finalists shows what a fantastic visitor product we have in our county, with attractions, accommodation, activities and events which other destinations can but dream of. And all in the county whose coastline has been named the second best in the world by National Geographic Magazine.   Our businesses continue to invest in their product and develop innovative marketing strategies in a very competitive business climate"

"Cliff House is a welcoming and very comfortable 4 star Guest House with panoramic views of the beach, harbour, Monkstone Point and across Carmarthen Bay towards The Gower.

Anne and Michael Slade moved in to Cliff House in February 2010. They have been busy re-furbishing the high quality and individually decorated bedrooms, maximising the magnificent views and developing excellent facilities for all guests. Cliff House has also been awarded ‘The Pembrokeshire Produce Mark’ in recognition of the fresh and locally sourced ingredients that are used in their delicious breakfasts.

As new owners (and previous regular visitors to Pembrokeshire) Anne and Michael have been greatly supported by the friendly community of Saundersfoot who all work together to make this popular village such a lovely place to visit and stay. They say that they are proud and delighted to be able help guests enjoy all that Saundersfoot and Pembrokeshire has to offer."
